A property owner divides a shop into two to three parts, which are managed and operated by shop owners from different properties. Its area can be equal or uneven, and the shape is different. The partitions between this type of store can be easily dismantled, and the facilities in the store, such as electric wires, water pipes and gates, are shared by several store owners.

The store plan in Kwai Chung Plaza

Most of the examples in this group originated from Kwai Chung Plaza in Kwai Fong. Completed in 1990, Kwai Chung Plaza consists of a plinth shopping mall and three residential buildings. Historically, because the early shops were too large to be rented out, the habit of "dividing stores" was developed. In the past 20 years, each shop was divided and redistributed, and the number increased from more than 600 to more than 1,000. Due to the cheap rent, numerous small businesses have joined here, and Kwai Chung Plaza has attracted grassroots residents and primary and secondary school students from many nearby public housing estates.
